Best Ever Guacamole Recipe
This is the greatest guacamole recipe because it’s easy to prepare and calls for premium, fresh ingredients. Genuine guacamole is devoid of superfluous additives and fillers. Avocados, onions, tomatoes, cilantro, jalapeno peppers, lime juice, garlic, and salt are all you need. Simple and tasty!
I am not one for hyperbole, but this really is the best guacamole recipe
It’s important to avoid getting too elaborate or trying to be too distinctive while making guacamole that will wow the crowd.
The goal of guacamole is to make it tasty and simple to prepare. Quite simply put. It’s a mixture of a few premium components whose flavors harmonize exquisitely.
I’ve worked with Mexican cooks and traveled to Mexico several times, so I can attest that this guacamole is authentic. Real, simple, and fresh!
Guacamole Ingredients
With just eight simple ingredients you can make one of the all-time-best dip recipes.
Avocados: Would you like to know how to select the ripest, tastiest avocados? See my tips below!
Onion: You can use red onion instead of the yellow onion I’m using, which is what’s most common in Mexico.
Select Roma tomatoes as they have less juice. A guacamole that is too thin is not what anyone likes.
One of my favorite herbs and a mainstay in Mexican cooking is cilantro.
Jalapeno: If you want a bit more spiciness, you may also use serrano pepper.
Garlic: While some people prefer their guacamole without it, others do. I’m not very in love.
Lime: You have to use freshly squeezed lime. Jarred lime juice has a weaker flavor, so avoid using it.
Salt: A sprinkling of flaky salt brings it all together.
Pick Ripe Avocados for the Best Guacamole
The freshest ingredients are the foundation of the tastiest guacamole. A ripe but firm avocado is what you want. Undoubtedly, you do not want avocados that are mushy and soft.
So how do you pick good, ripe avocados
First, select avocados with the stem still in place. It is more likely to have brown patches on the inside if the stem was cut out in the store. After that, lightly press one end. It should be slightly give able yet still firm.
How Do You Make Guacamole
Halve three ripe avocados, remove the pit, and transfer the avocados to a mixing dish. After that, carefully mash them with a fork to the desired chunky or smooth consistency. Stir everything together after adding the onions, tomatoes, cilantro, garlic, jalapeno pepper, lime juice, and salt. That is all. The easiest and most delicious guacamole.
How to Store Leftovers
Pretty quickly, guacamole oxidizes and turns brown. Even though the lime juice slows down this process, browning of leftover guacamole is unavoidable.
Now that I eat a lot of guacamole, I’ve tried every cooking tip there is to keep it green. What then isn’t effective? Let’s begin by discarding the pit from the guacamole. There is no scientific basis for this, and it has no effect on browning prevention. Think of it as an old wives’ tale.
Many then recommend adding lemon juice. And while this does help a little, I dislike how my favorite guacamole’s flavor is altered.
Placing plastic wrap directly on the guacamole to stop it from oxidizing is the most popular guacamole preservation tip. And for a day or two, this might work. However, I’m trying to use less plastic, and I just don’t like this approach.
How to keep guacamole
To make the top of your remaining guacamole nice and flat, place it in a storage container and press down firmly with a spoon.
Pour 1/2 inch of water (cold water worked best for me) on top.
Put the storage container’s lid on and keep it in the refrigerator. And that’s it!
Once the guacamole is ready to be consumed, simply remove the excess water, stir, and serve.
