Easy Fudge Recipe
For years, I have been modifying this simple fudge recipe! Because there are so many ways to modify it, it is one of my favorite dishes. There are many things you can do with just three components.
However, the recipe for foundation fudge is equally delectable.
When you need a quick dessert to serve at a party or give as a gift, make this fudge. Your loved ones will appreciate it!
Ingredients for Easy Fudge
- Chocolate Chips: Depending on your desire, you can use semi-sweet or milk chocolate. Although this is true for all chocolate brands, for the highest quality and flavor, you might wish to purchase a more expensive brand.
- Sweetened Condensed Milk: Not only do I believe Eagle Brand performs best in this situation, but I’ll even go so far as to argue that using a different brand won’t be as successful. I recommend a different branded brand, such as Carnation, if you do go from Eagle. Using store-brand sweetened condensed milk is not something I advise.
- Vanilla Extract: Here, pure vanilla extract provides the ideal flavor layer. I wouldn’t cut corners on this ingredient either.
How to Make Easy Fudge
I recommend you to prepare this on the stovetop, although I make a lot of my fudge recipes in the microwave. You want to utilize the stovetop’s low, consistent heat because there aren’t many ingredients.
- In a small saucepan, combine the chocolate chips and condensed milk that has been sweetened. Set the saucepan over low heat on the stovetop.
- As the chocolate melts, stir constantly. Stir in the vanilla essence until the chocolate has melted most of the way.
- Keep stirring until all of the chocolate has melted and the mixture is glossy and smooth.
- Pour onto an 8 × 8-inch pan that has been prepped. For at least four hours, leave the fudge covered and at room temperature to set.
- The fudge should be cut into 36 equal pieces.
How to Store Fudge
You can keep homemade fudge for up to two weeks in an airtight jar. There is no need to refrigerate fudge. I’ve included directions on how to freeze it after preparing it if you need to make it more than two weeks in advance.
Freezing this Easy Fudge Recipe
This recipe for fudge freezes incredibly well. Actually, I always have a batch or a variant of this dish in my freezer.
- Arrange the cut fudge in a flat layer in a one-gallon freezer bag.
- If you put the full recipe in a one-gallon bag, it will fit exactly and the fudge won’t cling together before it freezes.
- Keep for up to three months in the freezer. The fudge can be stored in the freezer for six months to a year if you use a vacuum sealer.
- Let it thaw on your counter for an hour or two before serving or giving it as a gift.
Does fudge need to be refrigerated?
No, it doesn’t. The best way to preserve fudge, in my opinion, is at room temperature.

Can you make this fudge recipe in the microwave?
Yes, you can! Before reusing the microwave, make sure to stir the chocolate and sweetened condensed milk much more than you think is necessary and heat them on half power for brief periods of time (such as 30 seconds).
Can you add nuts or dried fruit to this chocolate fudge recipe?
Of course. Nothing else has to be changed in the recipe; just stir in around half a cup of your preferred chopped nuts.
How do you make vegan fudge?
You can use vegan chocolate chips and sweetened condensed coconut milk in place of the sweetened condensed milk in this recipe.
